Keep Your Eye on the Prize While Telemarketing
If you are making b2b telemarketing calls, you have to be confident and focused – regardless of what is going on around you. Here are a few simple steps for conducting successful cold calls:
1.Introduce yourself…let your personality shine through…Get The Secretary’s name and strike up a good rapport with her. I usually would say that is a pretty name or that is the name of my cousin…
Use her name as you make conversation with her and remember to thank her for her help…the nicer you are the nicer she will be with you. This helps because if you treat her right nine times out of ten if she can’t get you to the right person …she will at least give you the correct contact person and she will tell you how to reach them.
2. I always make sure I ask a trigger question. Do you have any___________? Make this question all about them and their business, make it seem as though if they say no, they are missing out on the benefits your offer and could produce for them, and make them just want to know more.
3. Try to make reference to a customer who you talked to and was successful in helping them…link it to your current conversation and explain how they were skeptical but eventually said yes. Explain what their need was and how you helped them.
4. Make a connection and build trust by listening to what they have to say after you ask the Trigger question. Sometimes they will tell you everything you need to know in normal conversation, so take notes while you are on the phone those notes will really come in handy.
In closing, I would just like to say…I am a person who believes in bringing your A game to work each and every day. Remember that person on the other end of the line is your gateway to success. Treat them right and everything else will fall into place. Remember this is a numbers game, the more calls you make the more success you will experience on a daily basis. Good Luck…Aloha!
